Congratulations on purchasing your Trezor® device — the world’s first and most trusted hardware wallet. This guide walks you through the secure setup and use of your device. Whether you’re protecting Bitcoin, Ethereum, tokens, or other cryptocurrencies, Trezor® ensures your private keys never leave your device.

Let's begin your journey to financial self-custody with best-in-class security and peace of mind.

1. Check Your Box Contents

Before anything else, ensure that your Trezor® packaging is sealed and untampered. Inside the box, you should find:

• Your Trezor® Model One® or Model T®
• USB cable (Type-C or Micro-USB)
• Two blank recovery seed cards
• Welcome guide
• Trezor® stickers

If anything is missing or looks suspicious, do not proceed. Instead, contact Trezor® Support immediately.

2. Visit the Official Start Page

Open a secure browser and go to https://trezor.io/start. This is the only official website to download Trezor Suite® and start your setup.

At Trezor.io/Start you will:

1. Download Trezor Suite® for your OS (Windows®, macOS®, Linux®)
2. Connect your Trezor® device via USB
3. Install the latest firmware (if prompted)

3. Create or Recover a Wallet

After connecting your device and installing Trezor Suite®, choose between creating a new wallet or recovering an existing one.

Creating a new wallet:

• Choose a standard or hidden wallet
• Write down your recovery seed phrase (12–24 words) as shown on your device screen
• Do not save your seed digitally. Write it down on the provided recovery card

This seed phrase is your ultimate backup. Losing it means permanent loss of funds. Never share it.

4. Set a PIN and Passphrase (Optional)

Your PIN protects access to your device. Choose a unique 4–50 digit code. Enter it directly on your device screen. Additionally, advanced users may enable a passphrase — an extra word added to your seed for enhanced protection.

5. Explore Trezor Suite®

Trezor Suite® is the official interface for managing your crypto assets. With its intuitive dashboard, you can:

• Send and receive over 1000+ cryptocurrencies
• Monitor real-time balances and price charts
• Buy and exchange crypto with built-in services
• Create multiple accounts and label transactions

Trezor Suite® runs locally on your computer. No private keys are ever exposed online.

6. Best Practices for Security

Security is an ongoing process. Here are some best practices to follow:

• Always verify the website URL: https://trezor.io
• Never enter your seed phrase on your computer or any website
• Use a passphrase for enhanced privacy (optional)
• Physically secure your device and recovery card
• Update firmware only through Trezor Suite®

7. Backup & Recovery

Your recovery seed is the most important part of your wallet. Store it:

• In a secure, offline location
• In a fireproof and waterproof safe
• With a metal backup (e.g., Cryptosteel®) if possible

If your device is lost or damaged, you can recover your assets by restoring the seed into another Trezor® or compatible wallet.
